BioMar and the association of Caviar d'Aquitaine together in the development of a new range of food for Caviar producers in France under our BLUE IMPACT line

Biomar and the association of Caviar d'Aquitaine producers in France join forces in favor of sustainability in sturgeon farming, for a culture of tradition, respect for the planet, and support for the society in which we live.

BioMar has recently agreed with the Caviar d'Aquitaine Association (Group Kaviar, Prunier, L'Esturgeonnière and Caviar de France; responsible for more than 26% of the national caviar production in France), a commitment for the planet: The use of a new product range of more sustainable feed; our BLUE IMPACT line for sturgeon feeding in France,

This sustainable feed range is based on science and aims to reduce the impact of aquaculture feed on the whole value chain, through 3 key variables.

1) The reliance on scarce marine ingredients in aquafeeds

2) The use of circular and restorative raw materials.

3) Reducing the carbon footprint by ensuring that raw materials originate from sustainable sources.

It is important to note that fish feed is responsible for up to 80% of the environmental impact of aquaculture farms and at BioMar is aware of this and wants to multiply efforts throughout the value chain.

We want to be part of the future for Aquitaine Caviar. We recognize the key factors that have enabled the development of this industry: its tradition, geographical location, and the indelible decision of its people to defend sustainable and high-quality farming of a species of sturgeon that was threatened by indiscriminate fishing in the region for many years.

The producers of the Aquitaine region have carved out the necessary conditions to guarantee consumers the highest quality of French caviar. This has become the basis for the creation of an IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) or Protected Geographical Indication, which is currently underway of approval.

This Blue Impact product development initiative aims to guarantee consumers an authentic product that respects the planet and its natural resources, meets strict production standards, and, above all, improves over time; because its development is evolutionary, i.e. its formulation will vary with each optimization according to the raw materials.

Formulating a food according to its impact means finding a balance between the impacts produced by the raw materials from which it is made.

This transparency level reinforces the confidence of consumers, who are increasingly concerned about the ethics and sustainability of products. Monitoring ensures that sturgeon farming conditions are respected, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and strict animal welfare regulations.
