BioMar Australia Celebrate National Barramundi Day

Despite having an Aboriginal origin name, approximately 60% of barramundi eaten in Australia is imported, and nearly half of Australians are unsure whether their seafood is local or imported. National Barramundi Day is a day to celebrate all the hard-working Australian barramundi farmers who work tirelessly to produce a premium, homegrown product for Australians to enjoy.

BioMar Australia celebrated National Barramundi Day in traditional Aussie style, serving premium, Australian-grown barramundi on a BBQ for our staff to enjoy over lunch. BioMar would like to thank GFB Fisheries for providing us with their great-tasting, premium barramundi, which our team thoroughly enjoyed. GFB Fisheries produce some of Australia’s very best barramundi grown in the pristine waters of North Queensland. GFB Fisheries is a great example of an Australian producer who grows sustainable, high-quality barramundi in Australia for Australians to enjoy. BioMar would also like to thank all staff members who helped make it a successful day.

With so many great Australian barramundi producers nationwide, we encourage everyone to rally behind our Australian farmers, consider where your barramundi is coming from, and prioritise Australian-grown barramundi. Not only will you be supporting Australian businesses, but you will also be purchasing some of the highest-quality, best-tasting barramundi in the world.
